A one-day core training course aimed at Practice staff new to NHS Health Checks delivery or those who would benefit from a detailed overview of the aims and practical training on delivery. The course does not cover point of care testing as it is assumed prospective delivery staff will already be familiar with this.
It also includes a dementia element that enables healthcare professionals to talk to their patients about how they can reduce their dementia risk, such as by maintaining their social life, keeping mentally and physically active, and stopping smoking.
Also, includes support for NHS Health Check practitioners to improve their CVD risk communication skills and maximise patient outcomes following their check.
A two hour online workshop aimed at staff from any setting who have already been delivering NHS Health Checks and need to brush up their skills; or those recently trained who need a bit more help to get going.
A two-day certified training course for pharmacy staff who want to provide evidence based stop smoking programmes from their branch. Attendance across both days is compulsory.
This half day course covers a local progress report, refresher on policies, particularly the 4 and 12 week quit definition, and a refresher of standard treatment protocol, medication and electronic cigarettes. We will also go over success sharing and recap on tackling tricky patients.
Mental Health First Aid is a two day course that teaches how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health problem. You will learn how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health. This course is certified.
This training is an approach to healthcare that ensures you will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to ‘make every contact count’ when opportunities arise with patients. You will be well equipped to have brief conversations about their health and wellbeing and on how they might make positive improvements. Combined with practical face to face skills training you will receive on this course you will be well equipped to engage patients in difficult conversation.

This course raises awareness of mental health. It covers: What mental health is and how to challenge stigma, A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues, An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing, and confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
