One You East Sussex, the county’s new integrated healthy lifestyle service, will be offering a range of training for healthcare professionals, service managers and frontline staff. A one-day core training course aimed at Practice staff new to NHS Health Checks delivery or those who would benefit from a detailed overview of the aims and practical training on delivery. The course does not cover point of care testing as it is assumed prospective delivery staff will already be familiar with this.
This half day course covers a local progress report, refresher on policies, particularly the 4 and 12 week quit definition, and a refresher of standard treatment protocol, medication and electronic cigarettes. We will also go over success sharing and recap on tackling tricky patients.
Available to all NCSCT certified stop smoking practitioners. This 1 hour session will cover all aspects of smoking in pregnancy and relevant statistic underpinning the service’s approach. It offers an overview of how the service is doing in relation to national SATOD benchmark figures, a recap of relevant stop smoking medications and approaches for treating pregnant women.
This training is an approach to healthcare that ensures you will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to ‘make every contact count’ when opportunities arise with patients. You will be well equipped to have brief conversations about their health and wellbeing and on how they might make positive improvements. Combined with practical face to face skills training you will receive on this course you will be well equipped to engage patients in difficult conversation.
