Join us for week 1 of our May menu cooking experience. This week we check out how to make a delicious Pastry Pizza!
We’d argue that when it comes to food, we all have an idea of what we ought to be doing; we should be eating our fruit and veg, make sure we don’t eat too many biscuits or snack between meals. But even though we know this, sometimes it’s hard to put it in to practice!
We’ve teamed up with Seahaven Community Food & SCDA Community Support to bring you family-friendly, budget ideas from their recipe book ‘Budget Bites’, that are good for your health and your pocket, too. Look out for four meals throughout May which prove that it doesn’t cost lots of money to eat well.
Pastry Pizza Recipe
Take the Pastry Pizza recipe from Budget Bites – you can mix it up with any topping you like but be sure to include some fresh vegetables. Chopped peppers, mushrooms, a tin of sweetcorn; even a sliced courgette or two would make it tasty and healthy. It can be tricky to eat well when you’re feeding a family on a budget, but homemade pizza can be the perfect option as the kids can choose their own toppings – just make sure they go easy on the cheese!
Sometimes it’s the smallest differences that can show the biggest results. Swapping from processed, high-fat, high-sugar foods to homemade versions can not only make a difference to your health but they taste good too!
It can be hard to get the ball rolling – and that’s where we come in.
